When our review team arrived at this very unique and cozy Inn by the sea, we both noted the European feel of the staff and grounds.

This property is 13 years old, and is on a 5.2 acre site over looking the Pacific Ocean.

Some of Hollywood’s more famous golden age film stars appeared regularly on the Hotels guest registry, like Arnez, Crosby, Gable, Durante, Fairbanks, and Pickford. And of a more recent film age guest such as Kenny Loggins, Bruce Willis, Wynona Judd, Melanie Griffith, and Jane Seymour.
We noted that the lobby walls were lined with historic pictures taken of some of the famous guests.

Many of Hollywood's Greats
We were then shown to our beautifully appointed Guest Rooms to get settled in before our next day of treatments.
The Room
Inviting with a fireplace
We decided to enjoy one of the pools before retiring.

Walking on the Beach

The next morning we went for a walk on the beautiful shore located about one city block away before going for our treatments.

Relax in the Spa Next off to the Spa!
Luxury finds its ultimate expression at the full-service European-style Spa.
The staff was both extremely knowledgeable and helpful.
Massage
The spa offers classic spa services that range from body massages to facial treatments, manicures, and pedicures.

We were greeted with a robe and slippers, and then directed to the locker rooms, where we were able to take a steam prior to our treatments.

Our female reviewer was given the “Spicy Chai Body Bliss”
This nurturing herbal spice blend of exotic aromatherapy oils and creams is the ultimate formula for a luxurious massage. The aroma has a very unique and appetizing holiday quality of cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. The treatment began with a grape seed scrub, rich in anti-oxidants, to exfoliate the skin and prepare it for the clay, soy and spice appliqué. She was then wrapped in chai soy mud, containing Colorado Indian spring clay and soy, both known for their rich mineral and protein content. Next she went to the shower to rinse off and then came back to receive an invigorating massage with the herbal, spice lotion.
These sweet, woody spices produce a warming, soothing effect on any sore muscles and foster a wonderful sense of well being.
“Content” was her description when she finished!

Our Male reviewer received the “Pacific Paradise Body Scrub”.
First he was prepared for the body scrub. They used pineapple papaya lotion mixed with grape seeds to do the body exfoliant which takes 25 minutes. Next he was treated like Royalty with warm coconut kukui oil for his 50 minute massage!
When he was finished he noticed that his rough skin disappeared from the powerful moisturizing properties of the tropical oils which penetrated his skin. The skin glistened!

That evening the team was treated to an exceptional meal at the J Taylor’s Restaurant on premise at the L’Auberge Boutique Inn.
Outstanding Facility
Fantastic Menu

The meal was outstanding!
The Executive Chef Thomas Atkins, designs a unique menu combining Mediterranean, Mexican and American influences. Chef Atkins also guides the hotel's banquet and catering facilities and directs room service at the seaside inn.
He attended the prestigious Western Culinary Institute where he trained with a faculty of certified executive chefs and gold medallists from the Culinary Olympics. Before taking the reins at L'Auberge, Chef Atkins worked with Peter Zimmer at the Inn of Anasazi in Santa Fe and with Bradley Ogden at his Bay Area restaurants, including One Market and the Lark Creek Inn.

Whether you are planning a romantic spa retreat or a special occasion, this unique Inn by the sea will produce the kind of peaceful, unforgettable memories for making your own version of history at L’Auberge in Del Mar.

Thank you for joining us.
See you at the spa!
