Next we were off to dinner...

As a possible alternative to the outstanding venue at The Breakers, may we suggest
Café L’ Europe
?

Café L’ Europe

Café L’ Europe

331 South County Road
Palm Beach, Florida 33480
Phone 561-655-4020
Web: www.cafeleurope.com

In 1999, Café L'Europe was inducted into the prestigious and exclusive "Fine Dining Hall of Fame." This award is presented annually by the Nation's Restaurant News to 10 restaurants nationwide who meet and exceed the highest standards of the restaurant industry in food quality, service, ambience and staff training.”

Café L'Europe reigns as a top destination in the upscale Palm Beach dining circuit -- a regular stopping place for celebrity clientele, seasonal guests, millionaire tourists and local professionals. Sharing 150 seats between its two main venues, the restaurant feeds as many as 400 guests a night during the busy six-month winter season, lasting from November to April, when Florida's affluent Gold Coast is crowded with "snowbird" residents and vacationers.

The Piano Bar in the Bistro is open 7 nights a week with the added attraction of a Jazz Combo on Friday and Saturday. The musicians certainly contributed to making Cafe L'Europe the "Most Romantic and Intimate Atmosphere" in Palm Beach County.

Finest Health Spas writers staff was hosted by Café L’Europe, located just three minutes from The Breakers. Greeted by our host, Francois and seated in the main dinning room. The first thing we both noticed was the gorgeous fresh flowers throughout the restaurant. The fragrance permeated the room and made you feel as if you were dining in a garden.

We started out with a glass of champagne with some Beluga Caviar as we were advised of the signature selections of the chef. The selections were all unique and delicious.

Our next selections that were tried we highly recommend to our readers:

Appetizer: Tartar of Ahi Tuna with ginger, lemongrass, sesame, miso and cucumbers.

Entrees: Roasted Beef Tenderloin Pommes Fondantes, Red Onion Marmalade, Endive Meunie’re, Sauce Bordelaise

Rack of Colorado Lamb, Garbanzo Bean Cake, Sautéed Spinach, Scallions and Comfit Tomato

Dessert: Warm Chocolate Caramel Lava Cake served with Coffee Ice Cream
Traditional Crème Brulee with mixed seasonal Berries

We can testify, as to why, this restaurant has been given the Best Overall Dining award.

The owners Lidia and Norbert Goldner have worked zealously at innovation while attempting to honor their vision for Cafe L'Europe. When Norbert recently reintroduced his popular caviar and champagne bar along with the restaurant's late-night menu and bistro jazz combo it was to refine a twist he had first brought to Florida's fine-dining scene in the 1970s.

Norbert was born in Berlin and raised in Bavaria, where he entered the hospitality business as a culinary apprentice; Goldner spent three years learning the kitchen arts before heading for Switzerland, where he studied front-of-the-house operations at the hotel school in Lausanne.

Goldner's first job, at the Hotel Graf Zeppelin in Stuttgart, readied him for work in London, with the Grand Metropolitan group, and in New York with the Santo restaurants. That primed him for expanded hospitality studies at Cornell, before his dream of operating his own restaurant led him to Sarasota and eventually to Palm Beach.

A special person Goldner met on a fateful island cruise was his future wife, Lidia -- the woman who would help him create the Atlantic Coast version of Cafe L'Europe here some 10 years later.
With the passing of nearly two decades, Lidia has refined her role as wine buyer and key operating partner and personality in the establishment.

Finest Health Spas Magazine would like to thank Cafe L'Europe for your outstanding hospitality for our writer team, and the privilege to sample an exquisite dining establishment.
